Fastenal Company's Manufacturing Division was developed out of pure necessity. Through our early years, our business continued to grow and customer requests for nonstandard parts increased. One thing became clear: longer waits on specialized parts from our vendors and manufacturers were inconvenient for everyone involved. More often than not, this caused missed lead-times and delivery dates, and ultimately a loss of confidence. As a reaction to this growing problem, our Manufacturing Division was created in 1981.

With one machinist making studs, custom nuts, and doing some light hand-bending, Fastenal began meeting customer demands for both quality and short lead-times on custom parts. As the growth continued and requests for these parts increased, the Manufacturing Division added equipment and staff to meet the requests from sales personnel in the field.

Fastenal's Manufacturing Division utilizes its 104,000-sq. ft. facility with over 4.5 million pounds of raw material in stock. Our 180 skilled machinists are operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to meet our customer's needs--still specializing in short-run, non-standard fasteners and fully machined components.
